Youth: Trip to Hanging Rock
March in North Carolina means rising temperatures, a perfect excuse to get outdoors for a hike! We’ll be making a trip to Hanging Rock State Park (ncparks.gov/hanging-rock-state-park) Saturday, March 17th for a day of hiking.
Meet at New Hope at 9am, where we will load up and travel to the park. Upon arrival (around 10:15am), we will hike to the summit, which offers lovely views of the Piedmont region. On clear days, you can see Winston-Salem’s skyline. You might even have the opportunity to take a selfie with a rare Wehrle salamander, native to the park (don’t ask me how I know that). After our hike, we’ll grill out at one of the picnic shelters, then return back to New Hope. We should return no later than 3pm.
Bring: sturdy shoes (sandals and the ever-popular “slides” won’t cut it)
